About UID

Unique Identification or Item Unique Identifiaction (IUID) is a system to establish globally unique identifiers within the US Department of Defense. 

A UID compliant label must: 

• Last as long as the life expectancy of said item
• Be applied to any surface
• Be readable
• Follow character height requirements
• Conform to specific requirements
• Not affect said item's ability to perform
• Have text be capitals without serifs
• Have 2D Data Matrix, linear barcodes, and a human readable
