How do I set up a database and select a particular record to print (vs. printing all records)?
You would want to set up your database using one of the "Primary Key" keyed access options.

When going through the Add Database Wizard in LABEL MATRIX, you will be asked how you want to access your database. These are the choices:
  • Sequential access - Print all records in your database file, beginning with the first record
  • Keyed access/Primary Key - Access any record in the database based on a primary "key"
  • Keyed access/Unlimited Keys - Access any record in the database based on multiple "key" fields

To Set up a Primary Key :
Under the File menu select Label Properties, select database, here select the Reanalyze button, follow through the analyzing of the database until the option of Accessing the database is asked, here select Primary Key, on the next screen select Keyboard, on the next screen highlight the database field that you will search on (usually name or item number), then in the prompt enter this field header name and finish with the reanalyzing, click OK to the Label Properties screen and save the label design file. Now when printing you will want to use the Print Range of ALL, your database will display for you to pick a record to print and any keyboard input prompts, then the record will print and allow for another record to be chosen from the database, when all labels are printed then press the quit button.
