How do I print labels by accessing the label data from my database file? |
 |
| |
To add the database to the label design:
In LABEL MATRIX go to the Label Properties, and select the Database tab. Click the Add button and use Normal Setup to add the database, if Normal Setup doesn't work then Advanced Setup is needed to specify an ODBC driver to use with your database file (try using the Visual Fox Pro ODBC driver). When finished exit ( pressing OK ) out of Label Properties. Now you can add images by selecting the ABC or Add Barcode Icon at the left side of the screen. Under the data tab change the Origin to Database then highlight your field to add to the label, and select Place or OK. Do this for all the database fields you want to place on the label. Save your label when finished.
To print records from the database via the Data Grid:
Best when wanting to print multiple records in ascending or descending order. You can use the Data Grid to select and print your records (if the Data Grid is open on the screen then you will be printing using the highlighted records in the Grid - to use Primary Key, which was setup when attaching the Database the Data Grid will need to be closed, you will then be prompted for the Primary Key, your database records will be displayed, you can select a record by clicking on the record or by typing in the primary key field). Go to the GRID menu and select the Data Grid option. Here you can sort, filter and find records to print. Highlight the record to be printed then select PRINT from the FILE menu, select the Range of SELECTED (if using the Data Grid). To print more than one record, highlight the first record in the Data Grid list to be printed, then holding down the SHIFT key select the last record to be printed, all records between will be highlighted.
